All You Wanted To Know About Botox But Were Afraid To Ask
Have you ever considered Botox? As the years roll by and social media images turn on the heat for more Selfies, 10 Year Challenges and Instagram Filters, the pressure to alter or ‘uplift’ our appearances can take its toll on our resolve to keep things ‘au natural’.
In a day and age when beauty and perfection are widely sought after, many people are inspired by airbrushed magazine covers and flawless looking models have treatments done to beautify their features or to rewind the years by injecting fillers, having face-lifting procedures or plastic surgery done. We are not debating whether this is good or bad, right or wrong but the main concern these days is the people practicing it. Are they legit? Have they been trained professionally and are they looking out for your health or is it just about making a quick buck?
Hence we spoke to Mr. Pazy Iqbal, a professionally qualified nurse, as well as the CEO and lead aesthetic practitioner at Dea-Vos Ltd, UK.
There are many clients who would go for cheaper options where health and safety could be a major concern, how does your practice differ from many others?
“Facial aesthetics can be a lucrative business; which means that it can be exploited by unqualified people administering specialized treatments, which could result in complications that they are not adept at dealing with, all for money. This would not only have a physical effect on a client but also on their mental health. Treatments that are not correctly completed can leave the patient with an undesirable look, or even more seriously, blinded. I wouldn’t take the chance; would you?
We set out to know more about the popularly used Facial Treatments – Botox, Chemical Peels and Korean Nanoblading and this is what we discovered.
1. Botox – Botulinum Toxin Injections
At Dea-Vos we use Botulinum toxin Injections (commonly referred to as ‘Botox’) to treat lines and wrinkles. Botox is a medical treatment used in facial aesthetics to relax facial muscles. This has the desirable effect of radically reducing static and dynamic lines and wrinkles, such as frown lines and crow’s feet.
These wrinkles are caused over time to due to loss in fat, collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin. All of these components are ultimately responsible for providing structure and volume to the face. Static wrinkles occur naturally regardless of how much you move your face and is typical of the aging process.
The repetitive facial movements such as smiling, smoking, squinting or furrowing your brow are what form dynamic wrinkles. As you age the elasticity in your skin reduces and prevents your skin from bouncing back to its original wrinkle-free form.
Evidence also suggests that Botox goes further than just improving the appearance and could be a key mood-boosting ingredient. Imaging studies of the brain have shown that Botox has a positive effect on the amygdala, a part of the brain structure that is responsible for emotions. So, if we look good, we feel good! Experiencing positive emotions regularly can prevent anxiety and depression, debilitating conditions, which can dramatically affect people’s lives.
Dermal Fillers /Lip Filler
A Dermal Filler is a medically developed solution of hyaluronic acid which is injected under the skin using a fine needle. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance within the human body. It is a powerful humectant aka moisture-binding ingredient that keeps skin plump, hydrated and, yes, young-looking! Dermal Fillers can be used to add volume to enhance facial features such as cheeks or lips. Fillers can be used to smooth out and fill the lines created by aging, restoring a younger natural look.
Hyaluronic acid works by drawing moisture into the tissues, plumping and easing out the wrinkles and triggers the production of Collagen, which is an important building block of the skin structure. The results can be seen immediately and will last for approximately 12 months, which makes them excellent value. Instantly, after treatment patients will have smoother, more contoured features and a more youthful appearance. Dermal Fillers can be used to significantly improve:
- Fine lines
- Deep Facial Creases
- Nasolabial Folds
- Marionette Lines
- Volume loss in cheeks and across the jawline
- Create lip enhancement
2. Chemical Peels
We use NeoStrata Pro System peels, at Dea-Vos, to provide a range of chemical peel treatments. All our peels contain natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) derived from fruit sources such as sugarcane; citrus fruits; and almonds. This makes them highly effective yet still kind to the skin. Many common skins problems are associated with an excess build-up of dead skins cells, that make the skin thick and dull and may cause clogged pores. AHAs loosen, exfoliate and remove the dead surface layers revealing smoother, even toned, more youthful skin.
- Deep Lines and Wrinkles
- Skin Sagging
- Dry, Rough, Skin Texture
- Pigmentation Issues
- Clarifying and Blemishes
- Help to reverse the signs of aging and leave your skin looking radiant, glowing and youthful looking.
3. Korean Nanoblading
Korean Nanoblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic technique, that produces natural-looking fuller eyebrows. Brows are created using ultra nano needles, that mimic the actual diameter and dimension of real hair in the skin. Using precise nano strokes eyebrows are artistically fashioned to create a natural shape, detailing every individual hair stroke, meaning brows can vary in thickness, shape, and color to obtain the desired look.
- No more Eyebrow makeup
- Water proof and long lasting
- Natural looking
- Achieve professional dream eyebrows
- Results last approximately 12 months
“We love seeing the smiles on our client’s faces after they have had their treatments, but I always give them all the same advice, drink plenty of water, uses a good quality broad-spectrum SPF every day and please always, always use clean, pure, beneficial skincare products! “
