2017 is passing us by like a flash of lightning and believe it or not: summers are over. As we roll out our sleeves for the second half of the year, the thought can’t help but cross our minds as we list the number of parties and weddings we will attend up until December, AM I UP-TO-DATE WITH THE LATEST FASHION OR WILL I STICK OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB? OR SHALL I SAY-THE EXPAT VISITING FROM ABROAD LOOKING SO LAST SEASON!

Well, fret not dear ladies, as we have done the ground work for you so all you have to do is hit the shops with a list ready for what exactly is in and what not to bother packing in that suitcase. Here is a fresh ‘Fashion Forecast’ straight from the experts to save you from any wardrobe malfunction excuses and to make shopping more organised than ever.

As the summer sun starts burning bright, and the temperature hits the 40’s (degrees centigrade).

We all make a run for cooler pastures some would call it their greener, cooler pastures.

Most of us run to our white and everything nice!

Here’s to the next few months while the sun blazes in its glory, remember to enjoy it!!!!

White, white, and more white, as our creed would like to term it – dove white, pearl, white and just angelic white!

There is just not enough shades of white to soothe our days, when the sun blazes!

When one thinks of the evenings the warm yellow in all its glorious canary, egg yolk, and lemon shades comes to mind.

The most creative mix for the evenings is the yellow as our main man and then the other colors to bring balance to this order.

These summers should be about color, NOT lack of it! So bring out the colors in your life and live it up!

One size does NOT fit ALL. We do need to define our look and style according to our wisdom! The wiser you are…

Although the lengths of the tops are getting shorter but the wiser always choose simplistic classic-ness!

The lowers are gearing towards volume at the hem, despite the airy open organza cuffs.

And the tie-me-up-knots are also making a statement! The sleeves, oh the sleeves are creating ripples which are making waves and making heads turn.

Enjoy the frilliness and frolic in the sleeves

But don’t wear your hearts on it!

This summer it’s all about floral prints and volume pieces…loose deconstructed silhouettes make for smart summer fashion. Big sleeves, baggy tops, lanky trousers are what’s in where hemlines remain short and trousers are still loose, either tulip or harem style. To compliment this look one must pair it with a smart set of flats!

Saffrons, greens and a ton of citron can be seen around, my favourite is the buttercup…bright floral hues to celebrate the sunshine and glam up the resort wear.

Well, it’s an inherently upbeat season. Joy is oozing from every stitch and every seam what with Eid around the corner and cupboards to be filled with wardrobes for summer weddings.

The fashion story this season is whimsical and flirty, though with the right accessories and jewellery, the silhouettes can easily take you stylishly to a wedding.

There is no consensus on hemlines. Erratic and asymmetric hems rule.

Sheer accents are the icing as it were, on uber feminine silhouettes in stark white, or black, though we love a spot of turquoise.

Even stripes and florals—those two trusty pillars of the summer print line-up—are back with more bite, more verve and more tempting iterations to make you think again and look twice.

But in all this don’t forget to add a hint of Fuchsia, a clutch a bracelet or just a pair of gorgeous pink sandals!

Maheen Khan is one of the few original Pakistani designers with an untainted vision of our fashion industry. Her mastery in shape and silhouette is unparalleled and her range continues to set trends for the rest to follow.
